The South Wales Mountaineering Club is 50 years old this year! To mark the occasion, there are a number of events being organised and we'd like to encourage as many members and ex-members to attend as possible! If you're interested in attending any of these events, please email swmc@nexusuk.org. We would also be grateful if all past and present members were able to spread the word about these events to anyone the know who has been involved with the SWMC in the past. It would be great to see as many familiar (and maybe some unfamiliar) faces as possible to swap tales and adventures about the history of the club - 50 years is quite a remarkable feat!
As part of the SWMC 50th Anniversary celebrations, there will be a meet in North Wales at our wonderful little hut on the weekend of 25-26 September.
There are also 12 beds booked at the Lincoln Mounteering hut nextdoor (which SWMC also owned once upon a time!). This means we can hold an extra big meet for up to 30 people!
The annual dinner is going to be an extra-big event this year. This will take place in Cardiff City Hall on Saturday 27th November, starting at 19:00. More details to come soon!
After all the trad climbing trips of the Summer, it's once again time to start thinking about hitting those redpoint goals for the year.
A weekend trip to the ever-sunny Portland on the south coast will take place on the weekend of September 11-12th.
This is a sport climbing trip, but even if you've never clipped a bolt before, Portland's the ideal place to start.

For those of you that have yet to experience (or with limited experience) the pleasures and additional challenges of climbing in Pembrokeshire, then this weekend will be a good introduction.
Dut to forecast rain for Saturday, the introductory day has been moved to Sunday.
